Abstract

Venezuela is experiencing structural transformations in all areas, including education, which must evolve at the pace of a society in transition towards 21st century socialism. Simón Rodríguez, Venezuelan teacher and thinker, conceived of education as an instrument for liberation, considering that knowledge should serve to break established schemes and develop inventiveness. According to Rodríguez, social, physical and scientific instruction is key to forming a prudent, expert and thinking nation. In this context, educational policies must accompany the social and political change that Venezuela is currently experiencing, which is why the purpose of this research is to analyze this thought under the described context, starting from a descriptive approach and referencing bibliographic sources accordingly. to the theme. In this sense, it is considered that these philosophical and pedagogical orientations contribute to education in values.
